Steve Roybal Music

Born Stephen Anthony Roybal on May 20th 1977 in Santa Rosa, California, Steve spent his first 25 years as just a fan of music. It wasn't until he was 25 and saw a family friend, accomplished blues man Rick Hatfield play an acoustic guitar in his parents front yard one day, that Steve decided he should be making music as well as being a fan of it. That evening, Steve borrowed a guitar from his father, went home and began to teach himself to play.Having had always been a fan of writing poetry and short stories, songwriting ultimately came somewhat naturally to Steve. Steve wrote his first song "Everything After You" in the summer of 2005. Having never considered himself a singer, Steve was reluctant to share his writing or his voice. Eventually, Steve began playing his songs with friend and lead guitar player Chris Amos. In time, Chris would introduce Steve to singer/songwriter Luke Boice and drummer Jason Nosardi. Having formerly been a band, these musicians along with Steve reformed the local rock band The Mood, and began to build an all new set list and play live performances as well.

In late October of 2006, Steve met Jesse Wickman, owner/operator of Atlas Studios in Santa Rosa. Steve began recording his debut album titled after his first written song "Everything After You (the 10th St. Sessions)"and completed the 10 song project the following summer. The album was never released but instead of shelving the project, Steve, Jesse and all of the recording musicians resumed work in the summer of 2008 with all new material. Steve continues to write, record and perform with the members of his songwriting collaborative, "Steve Roybal Music". Steve's songwriting varies from heavy handed full band rock n' roll, to the 4 track acoustic tunes he often records in his living room. Steve's plans for the future include completion of the current album, as well as continuing to share his singing and songwriting to any and everyone who wants to hear it.
